To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%Completion of the following required Grade 12 U course with a minimum grade of 70%:English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must present grades of 4 or higher in 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects, including prerequisite subjects, and a total score of 28 or higher (bonus points will be accepted).

Studying literature like stories, poems, graphic novels, films and digital content helps us connect with different identities, cultures and time periods. In the English degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), you’ll harness the power of storytelling and creative expression as you journey through a diverse range of literary works. As a student, you'll build your skills and experience through optional co-op placements, independent research, community projects, campus journals, practicums in creative writing and digital storytelling. You'll graduate as a strong communicator, researcher and critical thinker, ready to succeed in many fields. The English degree program is one of 12 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation.
