A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale. If your average is below 3.00, you will be considered for conditional admission if sufficient evidence indicates that you can perform well in a graduate program.

state your goals while in this graduate program. Upload this form online.
• Your writing sample: details below. Upload this form online.
• Optional: The optional GTA application.
• Three letters of recommendation.
- Online, provide the e-address of each recommender who has agreed to write a
letter.
- Your recommenders will be e-mailed instructions to upload their letters.
• Transcripts: These must be from each university or college you attended that represent the course work you completed for your bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees since then.

• Request letters of recommendation and transcripts early to give you time to follow
up.
The recommended writing sample is the expository or persuasive essay that forwards
a topic or an argument (a discussion involving different points of view) based on evidence (often textual evidence). Although writing samples often come from academic
work, this is not required-professional or other public writing may qualify. Contact the
program director if you have questions. Your submission should be between 10-15 pages, citations added as needed, 12-pt. font (Times Roman or Arial), double-spaced, pages
numbered, your name and title of paper on the first page, above the start of your text.
Minimum TOEFL score for admission without condition is 550 (paper based), or 80 (internet based).
Minimum IELTS score for admission without condition is 6.5.

Students in this specialization join a vibrant community of scholars who research the transformative potential of writing and rhetoric and analyze the social, cultural, economic and historical forces shaping writing and rhetoric in theory and practice. Through analysis of and engagement with diverse contexts for writing, students create and apply methods for addressing shared social problems in classrooms and communities.
