Letters of Recommendation
Applicants applying directly from high school must submit one counselor recommendation and one recommendation from a teacher. The Common Application School Report is also required.
Submit Official Transcripts
All applicants must provide official high school and/or college transcripts from all institutions attended. Undergraduate applicants who have attended multiple high schools can submit only the graduating school's official transcript as long as all prior coursework is listed on that transcript.
International Baccalaureate (IB): Students can pursue either the IB Diploma Program (DP) or IB Career-related Program (CP). Applicants who are taking individual IB courses as a supplement to a national curriculum are permitted to pursue individual IB courses rather than the DP or CP.
Minimum required scores are:
TOEFL iBT- 100, IELTS - 7.5, PTE - 68

Engage in active analysis of the cultural, political, and individual worlds that are formed through media technologies and practices. The Culture and Media program at Lang analyzes media as it relates to and affects diverse dimensions of culture, including politics, economics, business, education, art, and entertainment. Gain the critical research and production tools you need to understand historical and contemporary media landscapes and cultural narratives.<br><br>Culture and Media students and faculty are committed to understanding and decoding the ways in which a diverse array of media influence our daily lives as well as the impact that we, both as individuals and collectively, can have on the cultural and political climates that surround us. <br><br>Through a combination of theory and practice, our students - as scholars, writers, filmmakers, artists, and designers - learn the critical thinking and making skills to actively engage in the process of world-making across three thematic areas: <br><br>Cultural Studies: critical analysis of texts, identities, and representations with a focus on questions of power<br>Media Studies: theories, histories, and practices of media, including photography, film, television, video, and digital media<br>Screen Studies: the critical, analytical, and hands-on production practices of filmmaking and cinematic arts<br>The New School also hosts numerous special events related to media and culture, including screenings, talks by industry leaders, and opportunities for you to showcase your work.
