High school graduate: If you are currently in high school, we just need to see your 9-11 (or equivalent) grade transcripts for an admission decision. However, you must graduate from an approved high school (or equivalent) prior to starting classes at CMU.
To ensure your success at CMU, you must provide proof of proficiency in English
Submit official transcripts from your high school. If you have college credits, also submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
TOEFL: 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
IELTS: 6.5 for regular admission.
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): A score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520.
ACT: English score of 21.
ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.

CMU's photojournalism program focuses on practical applications inside and outside the classroom that blend news value with the selection of photographs. You will be able to graduate from the program with concrete proof that you have what it takes to succeed as a professional photographer or photo editor, whether for a weekly newspaper or an up-to-the-minute online news service. Your photographic and reporting skills, creativity and knowledge will be exemplified in the photographic portfolio you'll develop through the classroom theory and hands-on learning opportunities CMU's photojournalism program offers. The photojournalism major at CMU is one of the top-ranked programs in the country. Students and alumni consistently win state, regional and national awards.
