High school graduate: If you are currently in high school, we just need to see your 9-11 (or equivalent) grade transcripts for an admission decision. However, you must graduate from an approved high school (or equivalent) prior to starting classes at CMU.
To ensure your success at CMU, you must provide proof of proficiency in English
Submit official transcripts from your high school. If you have college credits, also submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
TOEFL: 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
IELTS: 6.5 for regular admission.
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): A score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520.
ACT: English score of 21.
ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.

Our program combines fundamental journalism training and the latest technology and trends in the media world. You'll learn everything from the building blocks of good reporting to the cultural implications of our evolving media landscape.<br><br>Youll take courses in research, reporting and editing. Youll gain valuable professional experience through an internship.<br><br>You can choose to pursue our public relations concentration or take electives on topics like graphic design, sports reporting or social media.<br><br>Our journalism major offers students the flexibility to pair with a minor in another subject or take a wider variety of classes.<br><br>You'll have opportunities to gain real-world experience through:<br><br>Our award-winning, student-run newspaper, Central Michigan Life, our multimedia student lifestyle and features publication, Grand Central Magazine, or our student-run PR agency, PR Central, which serves campus and community clients.<br>A required internship. Previous internship locations include The Associated Press, the Detroit Free Press, The Washington Post, the Michigan House of Representatives, the American Red Cross and numerous public relations agencies.<br>Our unique internship program with China Daily, China's largest English language newspaper, based in Beijing.
