Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).
English Language Requirements
A minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12;
Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 3;
An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
A minimum 'C-' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
Bachelor's degree or higher from an English-speaking country completed at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English;
IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 3;
AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B
English Language Proficiency
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level IV (LEAP 8);
- Language Proficiency Index (LPI) with a score of 26;
- IELTS Academic 6.5 (No Band Lower Than 6.0);
- Duolingo English Test with a score of 110;
- TOEFL (IBT) with an overall score of 88, a writing score of 20, a reading score of 20, a listening score of 20, and a speaking score of 20; or
- CAEL with an overall score of 70 (no band lower than 60).

Langara Journalism programs (2-year Diploma or 1-year Certificate) aim to train students interested in journalism and communications careers.<br><br>Our programs teach you unique skills that are invaluable in both industries. You will gain in-depth and hands-on experience in writing, copy-editing, research, news gathering, interviewing and storytelling for a variety of multimedia platforms and subjects.<br><br>The program is a hands-on, compelling experience that prepares graduates for real-world newsrooms and communications shops that value accuracy, integrity and meeting deadlines. The two-year diploma program is intended for those with or without previous post-secondary experience, in which students will take a combination of journalism, communications, and liberal arts courses. There will be a mandatory foundation of introductory journalism and communications courses. Students will also have the choice to concentrate on advanced journalism, advanced communications, as well as non-journalism subjects. An internship in the final term is a required component of the program.
