Students must achieve a 3.2 cumulative GPA, with junior year being no less than a 3.1 GPA, in a college preparatory curriculum that results in a high school diploma. TOEFL score of at least 550 written / 213 computer / 80 IBT. Score of 6.0 or better on the IELTS.

Journalism in the digital age is evolving rapidly. The Journalism Program blends these exciting technological and delivery system advances with the bedrock principles of ethical newsgathering that have stood the test of time. The program cultivates students' interests and techniques in gathering information through research and interviews, and writing for the array of media platforms. Emphasis is placed on the role and responsibilities of journalism within the context of civic and political participation, and the social justice awareness rooted in the University mission.Articulating the role that journalism plays in a democratic governmental system.<br>Developing the skills to gather relevant information via research, interviews and observation that has inherent news value, and writing stories using that information, in appropriate journalistic style. Honing, polishing and improving journalistic writing that is contextual and relevant across media platforms in a deadline environment. Becoming adept at fashioning journalistic work with attention to all the appropriate elements of news presentation, such as medium, platform, design, placement within format, typography, graphics and headlines, grammar, punctuation and style. Understanding the boundaries of media law and guidelines for ethical journalistic behaviors, incorporating that understanding in journalistic practices that transcend minimum standards.
