Leadership skills are essential for today's managers. Organizational settings, including for-profit businesses, political organizations, not-for-profit organizations and public and private boards, are dynamic entities, which rely on skilled leaders to function efficiently and to ensure positive workplace cultures and climates. The Organizational Sciences degree offers two specialization areas and is offered on campus and completely online. Organizations and Communities specialization allows you to select courses from different disciplines that investigate/examine organizations and the communities they serve from a variety of disciplinary perspectives (e.g., Business, Psychology, Communication, Human Resource Management, Political Science, Sociology, etc.). Also, the study of organizations can focus on profit or nonprofit organizations, depending on the coursework selected. Organizational Communication specialization is primarily focused on the study of communication in a variety of contexts including interpersonal, organizational and intercultural settings. You will learn and refine effective communication skills such as persuasion, conflict management and leadership.
