A criminal justice degree helps you prepare for a career in one of several criminal justice fields. Graduates often enter state and local police work, or probation and parole work, with both adults and juveniles. Some enter federal law enforcement or federal corrections, while others use the degree to enter graduate school or law school. Whatever your choice, you will leave Widener with a well-rounded, well-grounded knowledge of the criminal justice system. Students majoring in criminal justice are challenged to develop the analytical and research skills they will need to serve as leaders in criminal justice systems. For a strong foundation, students take classes in political science, psychology, and sociology before diving deep into upper-level coursework that focuses on topics specific to criminal justice. Students can also choose to double major in sociology, political science, or social work, minor in computer forensics, or earn a certificate in accounting to prepare for a career in corporate law or with the FBI.
