Option 1: Secondary school (for students with secondary school graduation only)
B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent with:
English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (see Note) with a minimum grade of B.
Two additional Approved Grade 12 courses.
Minimum B average calculated on English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (see Note) and the two best Approved Grade 12 courses.
Note: Students may also present English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, AP English, IB English A (standard level or higher level), or out-of-province equivalent.
Option 2: University entrance (for students who have attended some post-secondary school)
The BA (Criminal Justice) program is in high demand. The following are the minimum requirements for consideration of entry into the degree program. Students who do not meet these minimum requirements for the degree program might consider enrolling in either the Criminal Justice diploma or Qualifying Studies, depending on their CGPA or secondary school requirements.
Applicants with 1-14 transferable credits must meet the high school admission requirements above and present a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on all attempted transferable courses.
Applicants with 15-29 transferable credits must present a minimum CGPA of 2.67 on all attempted transferable courses.
Applicants with 30 or more transferable credits must present a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on all attempted transferable courses.
Applicants must meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement. For details on how this requirement may be met, see the English language proficiency requirement section of the calendar.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) IBT score of 88 with no section below 20, or paper-based score of 570 with a TWE (essay) score of 4.5 or higher.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic format score of at least 6.5., with no band score less than 6.0.
MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) score of at least 85.
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) score of at least 70.

Learn about the criminal justice system and delve into the complex issues surrounding it such as the causes, prevention, and law enforcement responses to criminal behaviour. In your first and second year, you examine the historical evolution of criminological thought and learn to view criminology as both a science and profession. You learn to identify the psychological and sociological factors that drives an individual to crime and how the criminal justice system is applied. In your third and fourth year, you develop your analytical and critical thinking skills by designing your own research project. This is an opportunity to use various qualitative and quantitative research methods to prepare for graduate studies and advanced career opportunities within the criminal justice field. After you graduate from UFV’s Criminal Justice Bachelor program, you have gained the vocabulary and critical discernment to apply criminological and criminal justice principles to effect individual, community, and organizational challenges.Application deadline:Fall: April 15
