The program trains students for administrative positions in government and quasi-public agencies. Majors learn how public agencies handle budgetary, financial, personnel and policy-making matters, which may differ from private business practices. The Public Management and Policy major prepares students for managerial and administrative positions in local, state or federal government agencies and nonprofit agencies. This major also prepares students for graduate study in law, specialized planning and public administrative fields. Public Organization, Demonstrate a basic understanding of managing public organizations and challenges facing public managers.. Foundations of Financing, Demonstrate a basic understanding of how governments at all levels are financed, and the role as well as the process of budgeting in the public sector..
