国际学生入学条件

Prospective students are expected to have a bachelor’s degree and have taken specific Economic Theory courses, such as Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Most successful candidates have also taken Econometrics courses, and it is recommended that candidates have also taken as many courses in advanced Mathematics and Statistics as possible, such as Calculus, Mathematical Statistics, Matrix and Linear Algebra. It is highly recommended to take one proof-based course, ideally in Real Analysis.

Although the minimum undergraduate grade point average requirement for admission to graduate school at UC Santa Barbara is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

TOEFL scores for those applying to the Ph.D.: A minimum score of 600 Paper-Based Test (PBT), or 100 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 7 or higher (if applicable).

The Department of Economics prepares graduates to compete in the academic, governmental, and private sectors. Ph.D./M.A. students complete coursework in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics, three preliminary qualifying examinations, and two elective fields of study. Elective fields include: Econometrics, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Experimental and Behavioral Economics, Labor Economics, Macroeconomic Theory and Policy, Microeconomic Theory, and Public Economics.
