Firms need employees who have knowledge of domestic and international economic systems and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Students with an economics concentration gain these skills and occupy a wide range of positions in for-profit and non-profit enterprises as well as in government. The economics concentration is recommended for pre-law students and for students who aim for careers in banking, finance, government, or industry. Students may also pursue a major or minor in this field within the College of Arts and Sciences, the requirements for the BA and the BS degrees can be found under that College. Students expecting to pursue graduate study in economics are encouraged to earn a BS in Economics.<br><br>The objective of the economics program is to give students a broad background and knowledge of domestic and international economic systems that are essential for business managers in today's competitive global economy.
