Designed for students interested in tackling the complex and interconnected issues of the day, our interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Economics allows you to stretch your education across disciplines and direct your studies according to your personal interests and career goals. Early in the program, you will work with a faculty advisor and supervisory committee to develop a plan of study that incorporates your primary interest in economics with at least one other compatible co-discipline. Some suggested compatible co-disciplines include curriculum and instruction; educational leadership, policy and foundations; history; and public affairs and administration. As a student in this program, you will complete didactic coursework in your primary discipline and co-discipline areas of study, pass a comprehensive examination, develop and propose a dissertation research project, and compose and defend your dissertation during a final presentation of your work.
