Development Economics is the study of developing countries and the people who live there. It uses economic theory to ask how to improve the economies of these countries and the quality of life of their inhabitants. As such, Development Economics overlaps with most fields in economics. Our faculty's main focus is on empirical microeconomic analysis of development using a wide range of methods. Our faculty are actively engaged in field work involving the collection of both observational and experimental data.<br><br>The OSU doctoral program in economics is designed to prepare individuals for academic careers, research and administrative positions in business and government. Recent graduates are in leadership positions with the Federal Reserve Bank, Korea Energy Economics Institute and a variety of higher education institutions including University of Alaska-Anchorage, Wichita State University, Renmin University of China, Sakarya University in Turkey, Northern Lights College in British Columbia, Canada, University of Minnesota, Northeastern State University and IIT Rourkee.<br><br>Curriculum<br>A total of 64 graduate credit hours are required for a doctoral degree in economics at OSU.<br>The program offers specialization in:<br>Regional and Urban Economics<br>International Economics<br>Development Economics<br>Dynamic Macro and Macroeconometrics
