Hold a Bachelor's degree with a liberal arts foundation from an accredited college or university. Advanced Standing Applicants need to possess an undergraduate degree in Social Work earned within five years of admission.
Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 units (90 quarter), but not less than a minimum of a 2.85 GPA.
The GRE will not be required for Fall 2021 for MSW or MSW/MPH applicants. MSW/JD applications are required to submit either a GRE or LSAT score. If applicable TOEFL Examination and/or The GRE/ LSAT must be submitted prior to the application deadline in order for your application to be considered.
Complete SDSU School of Social Work Application form which includes: Supplemental information, Liberal Arts Perspective Form, Personal/Professional Statement, Letters of Recommendation (Advanced Standing Program applicants need a letter from their field instructor and a social work faculty member), Education and Experience, Application Information Certification. All graduate and post-baccalaureate applicants (regardless of citizenship status) applying to SDSU from an international institution where the medium of instruction was not English must submit one of the following as proof of English proficiency:
TOEFL minimum score of 80 iBT, 550 PBT. IELTS overall score of 6.5 or higher.

San Diego State University School of Social Work offers 1, 2, 3, and 4-year plans for obtaining the MSW degree. In addition, the School of Social Work also offers two dual degree programs: Master in Social Work Degree / Master in Public Health Degree (MSW/MPH) and a Master in Social Work Degree / Juris Doctor Degree (MSW/JD). The mission of the MSW program is to prepare versatile leaders for professional, ethical, and advanced specialist social work practice.
