Widener's MSW program follows a trauma-informed, clinical model that promotes a social justice lens. Our program, combined with rigorous fieldwork education experience, provides students with opportunities to learn fundamental skills and values while helping some of this country's most vulnerable individuals. Trauma is a leading factor in the mental health field and can often lead to substance abuse and other social-emotional issues that affect quality of life. Widener's MSW program prepares its students to understand trauma as a root cause and the effect it can have on a client and community. Our single concentration in clinical social work provides students with a full range of skills needed for direct clinical practice in human service organizations, including self-care skills for workers. Students graduating from Widener are prepared to become professional social workers.
