The Indigenous child welfare specialization combines courses from the Indigenous and child welfare specializations and will encourage you to explore and affirm your own Indigenous identity. The intent of this specialization is similar to the Indigenous specialization with an emphasis on the well being of Indigenous children, families and communities. The fourth year practicum will take place in an Indigenous child welfare agency that is delegated by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or an Indigenous child welfare service agency. You have an opportunity to complete this practicum in a child protection agency or an Indigenous child welfare agency that is not protection focused. Upon graduation you will receive a BSW degree and your transcript will indicate that you completed the Indigenous child welfare specialization stream.

Careers
Abuse or crisis counsellor, Addictions counsellor, Adoptions worker, Agency administration, Child and youth worker
Child protection worker, Clinical social worker, Corrections or probation officer, Employment counsellor
