To be considered for admission, you must have completed or are in the process of completing secondary school with a cumulative or overall grade point average (GPA) equivalent of B or higher. Focus will also be on the grades/marks you have received for Mathematics and Science courses.
The SAT or ACT is optional for prospective international students applying for 2021-2022 admissions.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
All official transcripts, examination certifications (e.g., General Certificate of Education) and other documents showing all high school and any completed post-secondary work must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. All official transcripts must be mailed directly by the institution or Ministry of Education to the Office of Admissions. Documents mailed or hand carried by you or anyone else will not be accepted as official or used for admission consideration.
Secondary school transcripts must include a list of courses taken and grades/internal marks received each year, class rank for the last four years of secondary school, and an explanation of the school's grading system. If transcripts with annual internal marks are unavailable directly from the school, you may photocopy your mark sheets or grade reports and have them certified by a school official who verifies that a transcript is otherwise not available. The University of Hawaiʻi confers a bachelor of social work (BSW) degree on undergraduate students who have majored in social work and completed all the academic requirements of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. This program involves a two-year course of study beginning in the junior year. It combines both academic course work and field practicum.The mission of the MBT DSW Bachelor of Social Work Program is to provide students with the knowledge, values, skills, and cognitive and affective processes of the social work profession, integrated with a liberal arts education. Utilizing a generalist framework, the BSW Program provides the basis for practice within the context of a multicultural environment. Special attention is given to Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Asian communities of our state and the Pacific Region, as they interact within a global context. Social and economic justice for underrepresented and oppressed groups is emphasized within the curriculum.Recognize the intersectionality of diversities in ourselves and others as central to successful social work practice.Are educated in the unique role our island home plays in the lives and well-being of its people – particularly for Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Asian populations.Are prepared to serve individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities and to function as leaders of social justice and social change utilizing the knowledge, values and skills of the social work profession.
