Our international hospitality business management course will pave the way for a career across the UK or abroad in areas such as hotel and resort management, conferences and catering. Our industry partners are with you every step of the way. You’ll learn firsthand how the industry is changing, adapting and overcoming obstacles, from managers and alumni in the know, and in real-time.You will learn the hospitality fundamentals including global business landscape, contemporary issues, business entrepreneurship and cross-cultural management. You’ll also be able to choose from other options in hospitality and tourism to help you personalise the course around your own interests and career goals.We make sure you get a good mix of classroom work and practical sessions. One day you might be learning about operations in a lecture, the next you might be on a tour of a kitchen with the head chef. Here you’ll learn all about menus, food waste and sustainability, and the cost implications of homegrown vs bought-in products.Since this course has an international focus, you can study a language as one of your option modules throughout each year with us. You can also take advantage of our international links with organisations like American Hotel Academy (Romania) or International Management Institute (Switzerland).Your final year research project is a chance to really show off your expertise and specialise in a subject. You can choose your own topic or base it on something you discovered on your placement.Future YouA degree in hospitality can lead to a number of graduate schemes and management careers. International hotels are one obvious destination for many hospitality students, and with restaurants, spas, and golf courses there’s lots of variety in a hotel career. But throughout the course you’ll also learn about the range of options in the wider sector.We’ve packed our programme with valuable experiences to add to your portfolio, such as the opportunity to take part in a competition in your second year, with the winners attending the EMCup in Maastricht to compete against hospitality students from 40 European universities.Our connections to the industry provide opportunities to attend guest lectures and networking events. Our industry partners are always looking for students to work with at events or on placement. Previous students have shadowed the event coordinator for a 600-person ball at The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel and worked with the HR team at Hotel Gotham.Open to final year students, you'll get the opportunity to be mentored by general managers from Manchester’s best hotels.
