The student must be recommended for admission to graduate study by the program's Admission Committee and Dean.
Program Criteria are:
a. Minimum GPA score of 3.0 overall or 3.0 GPA on the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate work.
b. Earn a grade of a ''C'' or better for the following undergraduate courses:
Nutrition
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Human Anatomy with lab
Human Physiology with lab
General Psychology
Statistics
c. Signed observation hours (75) under direct supervision of certified athletic trainer.
d. First Aid/CPR - must hold current professional rescuer certification upon entry and upload documentation
3. No student is permitted to transfer graduate level coursework toward the degree in athletic training in which a grade lower than a ''C'' was achieved. Submit Official English Proficiency Scores: Truman requires a minimum overall score of:
• 79 for TOEFL (iBT)
• 6.0 for IELTS , TOEFL (550 or above on the paper-based TOEFL)

Truman's Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program provides you with specialized coursework and practical experience that prepare you for a successful career in athletic training. You benefit from small, personal classes with a student-faculty ratio of 8:1. Your student experiences include but are not limited to cupping, Graston techniques, mental health first-aid training, grant writing, performance enhancement training, and therapeutic communication training. Through broad-based professional preparation combined with close collaboration with professors and progressive clinical experiences, you'll graduate from the program with the knowledge, skills and experience to take the national Board of Certification (BOC) exam to become a certified athletic trainer.
