official transcripts required from each four-year institution where course credit was granted
minimum 3.0 GPA in your last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus any completed graduate courses)
GRE scores not required
certification showing you are a certified athletic trainer or eligible for the certification exam (especially if your degree is not from a CAATE-accredited institution)
athletic trainer certification or eligibility for the certification exam (especially if the student's degree is not from a CAATE-accredited institution)
research interest form
resume/CV including education, certifications or licensures, professional affiliations, clinical education experiences and/or professional work experience, honors and awards, community service activities, and professional presentations/publications
statement of purpose (maximum two pages) that discusses the student's reasons for pursuing graduate studies in athletic training at Texas State University, goals for graduate study, and areas of research interest. The student should also include how the knowledge gained from this degree program will contribute to his/her future career and professional growth.
three forms of recommendation with at least one form from an academic faculty member and one form from the certified athletic trainer who supervised the majority of the student's clinical experience

Non-native English speakers who do not qualify for an English proficiency waiver:
official TOEFL iBT scores required with a 78 overall
official IELTS (academic) scores required with a 6.5 overall and
minimum individual module scores of 6.0, TOEFL PBT - 550 or higher

The Department of Health and Human Performance at Texas State offers several master's programs to prepare students for careers and doctoral study in many areas including athletic training, exercise science, health and wellness promotion, kinesiology, recreation administration, recreation therapy, rehabilitation sciences, and strength & conditioning and sport coaching. Our faculty are nationally and internationally known for their research on autism, biomechanics, concussions, exercise physiology, fitness, health promotion, health and wellness programming, motor development, musculoskeletal injury, physical education, recreation administration and therapy, sport and exercise psychology, substance abuse prevention, and community health. Recent visiting scholars to the department have come from Brazil, Egypt, England, Korea, Russia, and Spain.<br><br>The mission of the Department of Health and Human Performance is to create and disseminate knowledge promoting evidence-based practice in athletic training, exercise science, public health, and recreation professions. We work to directly promote improved human performance and quality of life through evidence-based educational, recreational, and therapeutic interventions and programs. Our vision is to be a national leader in promoting human performance and health-related quality of life for all.<br><br>The Master of Science (M.S.) degree with a major in Athletic Training is designed as an advanced post-professional athletic training curriculum for the board-certified athletic trainer. The graduate student in athletic training may choose from either the thesis or the non-thesis option. <br><br>As background prerequisites, an athletic training major is expected to have graduated from an academic institution that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) or presently be certified through the Board of Certification, Inc.
