Our school has a long and rich tradition that can be traced back to the very beginning of the university when the first WKU president appointed his daughter as instructor of Physical Hygiene. The school recognizes the importance of quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs and offers majors in the areas of physical education pedagogy, exercise science, recreation administration, and sport management. The minors within the school include Athletic Coaching, Nonprofit Administration, Outdoor Experience Leadership, Facility & Event Management, Physical Education, and Tourism. Whether the market is teaching physical education in a school system, coaching an athletic team, working with the physical handicapped, heading a recreation program, working in therapeutic recreation, in outdoor education or other recreation settings, WKU offers fully accredited preparation programs to support these career choices.
