The B.S. in Exercise Science provides a strong foundation for students who want to pursue careers or graduate and professional degrees in a wide range of health careers. At URI, you can choose between two areas of specialization, the Pre-Professional Track or the Applied Track, depending on your specific interests and career goals.<br><br>This specialization prepares you to analyze physical activity, exercise, and sport in a physiological context, with an emphasis on basic science courses. You will be trained to assess, design, and implement exercise programs for individuals who are apparently healthy, and those with controlled disease. You will learn to evaluate health behaviors and risk factors, conduct fitness assessments, write appropriate exercise prescriptions and motivate individuals to modify negative health habits.<br><br>This option is for students considering careers or graduate degrees in health care professions including exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy, physician's assistant, chiropractic, and occupational therapy. You may also choose advanced study in the allied health professions, including exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy, physician's assistant, chiropractic medicine or occupational therapy.
