The Master's Specialization in Exercise Science is designed for those students who are interested in an in-depth study of the effects of exercise on human physiology, how it relates to cardiovascular health and disease, neuromuscular activation and cell development. Many of these students go on to careers in strength and conditioning, medicine, biomechanics or sports cardiology research, or physical and occupational therapy. A Master of Science degree in Exercise Science specializes in the areas of human performance, strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology. The faculty members are engaged in studies dealing with both basic and applied aspects of human performance. There are two track options for the degree in Exercise science. The Applied track requires the student to apply for a 6-hr credit Internship in the exercise science related field where the student must pass the ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist) Certification Exam for degree completion. The research track requires the student to complete a thesis and submit it to a peer-reviewed journal for degree completion.
