a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the US, or the equivalent of such degrees in another country, will be considered for admission.
The Graduate College requires as a minimum standard a “B†average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, in a program of study resulting in the award of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants who have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale can be considered for provisional admission.

This concentration is designed to prepare students to assume positions as fitness or health promotion directors and exercise consultants in private or public agencies, health centers, cardiac rehabilitation programs, as well as corporate fitness programs. Job opportunities for exercise science majors include the following: cardiac rehabilitation, worksite fitness/wellness, personal training, management of fitness clubs, community fitness (e.g., YMCA), hospital based fitness and wellness, strength and conditioning specialist, and sports industry and equipment. Biomechanics: Prepares students for advanced careers in academia, medical professions and industry. This fast growing scientific area presents with opportunities from robotics to sport equipment design to the development of clinical diagnostic and prognostic devices. Exercise Physiology: Prepares students for careers in academia, medicine, sport, business, and research. The program emphasizes translation and development of evidence based research in meeting the dynamic needs in a society emphasizing the impact of exercise on human health and function. Motor Development/Control: Prepares students for advanced careers in academia, medical professions and industry. Training in this growing scientific area presents with opportunities from research to physical therapy to the development of clinical diagnostic and prognostic devices. Strength and Conditioning: Integrates the science of training adaptations and the application of these concepts to athletes and clinical populations. The program emphasizes evidence based application of strength and conditioning principles. Sport and Exercise Psychology: Incorporates training in both the psychological and exercise sciences. Applications are directed towards both the general fitness population and the athletic population. The program emphasizes the science-practitioner model to promote understanding of both the theoretical and applied content, with an emphasis towards preparation for further graduate study.
