课程简介
As a student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, you will become adept at the mathematical inquiry. You will use deductive and inductive reasoning to explore and understand numerical, geometric, and abstract patterns. These methods will equip you with powerful and adaptable tools to address scientific and societal problems. As a result, a mathematician is consistently one of the top-rated careers nationwide. A mathematics major will gain expertise in important modes of mathematical reasoning and the ability to express their analyses clearly. For example, a major will learn geometric/spatial reasoning, algebraic structures, calculus, and number systems. In addition, the program focuses on important core mathematical methods and structures and their use in solving problems in other disciplines. A mathematics major is an excellent preparation for advanced studies in various quantitative fields, such as engineering, the sciences, statistics, operations research, and management. Employers highly value people with mathematics degrees because their excellent quantitative skills can quickly adapt to various contexts. Since job opportunities are greater for those with advanced training in mathematics, many undergraduates proceed directly to graduate work in mathematics.
