The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is the home of over 30 faculty members and 80 graduate students. Amongst our faculty are 5 University Research Professors (the highest university rank) and a Canada Research Chair. Multiple members of our department have been recipients of Presidential awards for Research and Teaching. These levels of excellence have also been recognized globally, when we were ranked #267 (worldwide) in Mathematics in the 2024 U.S. News and World Report University Rankings.<br><br>The Master of Science is available in Mathematics or Statistics. This program accepts new students only in the Fall semester.<br>The Mathematics program has two options. The research-based program consists of graduate courses and a thesis. A full-time student is expected to complete the degree requirements in two years. The course-based program is an intensive three semester (one-year) program based on graduate courses and a project. The Statistics program consists of graduate courses and a thesis.
