High school graduate: If you are currently in high school, we just need to see your 9-11 (or equivalent) grade transcripts for an admission decision. However, you must graduate from an approved high school (or equivalent) prior to starting classes at CMU.
To ensure your success at CMU, you must provide proof of proficiency in English
Submit official transcripts from your high school. If you have college credits, also submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
TOEFL: 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
IELTS: 6.5 for regular admission.
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): A score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520.
ACT: English score of 21.
ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.

We are committed to excellence in teaching, research, service and outreach. We provide a foundation in Mathematics and Mathematics Education for all students. Our programs lead to discovery, analysis and dissemination of mathematics, and mathematics education. We provide students with a full appreciation of mathematics and its applications. Our goal is to equip the graduate with the tools necessary to fully participate in a technological society and a competitive global environment. Whether you're interested in theoretical or applied mathematics, CMU's math programs will help you build problem-solving skills for a wide range of careers. Working with faculty, you'll apply the equations and theories you've learned in class and could present your research results at the annual campuswide Student Research and Creative Endeavors Exhibition. Student organizations, such as Kappa Mu Epsilon, also prepare you for the professional world. Mathematicians work in the federal government and in private science and engineering research companies. They may work on teams with engineers, scientists and other professionals.
