A master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum admission grade point average equivalent to 3.5 on a four point scale in the last two years of university work.
In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to enter the PhD program without a master's degree, however, conditions apply. Please contact us for information.
A Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of at least 650. Typically students admitted to the PhD program score 700 or above. GRE scores at or above the 85% percentile will be accepted in the place of a GMAT.
For international students, a minimum TOEFL score of 97 (iBT) or 580 (written test), or a score of 7.0 on the IELTS. This requirement may be waived in circumstances where the language of instruction for prior degrees was English.

The ENTI area covers entrepreneurship and innovation, in the context of existing businesses, startups and social enterprise. Our faculty members tackle a number of aspects in entrepreneurship and innovation topics, ranging from how companies create and implement entrepreneurial strategies, to understanding the context and support for young and smaller companies, to investigating how entrepreneurs think and act within resource, industry, technological, and social contexts. The faculty research is supported by a variety of grants, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Government of Alberta, and private foundations. The faculty also creates innovative new courses and programs in entrepreneurship, empowering potential entrepreneurs throughout the university community. ENTI faculty and students are pleased to work with the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and with the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking. Our area has a thriving PhD program with students from all over the world working with faculty to conduct world-class research.<br>The Haskayne PhD program is customized to fit your needs through a flexible, innovative and student-oriented approach including, the possibility of cross-disciplinary programs. This program will allow you to work with some of the best management scholars in the world, build your student support network and develop the research and teaching skills necessary to assume positions with major universities in Canada, the United States and around the world.<br>After completing course work, students write their Field of Study, defend their dissertation proposal, fulfill their two-course teaching requirement and complete their dissertation. While recent graduates have completed their program in four years, typically students take five years to finish.
