国际学生入学条件
In order to be eligible for an LL.M., applicants must:
Hold a Juris Doctor (JD) from a US law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) or a first degree in law from a foreign law school with equivalent standards.
Applicants must submit official transcripts or notarized full-sized copies of all law, graduate, and undergraduate schools attended, including a record of all courses, examinations, and marks.
Official means a copy of the original document certified by an officer of your school or by a notary public. Faxed copies and photocopies of academic records will not be accepted. Transcripts must be written in the native language of the school. If this language is not English, the documents must be accompanied by a certified translation. Institutions must send the required documents directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
the LL.M. Programs also accept transcripts and certified copies of academic documents from EducationUSA and WES. The applicant should contact WES directly to arrange submission.
Two Letters of Recommendation
Personal Statement
Applicants must submit a 1-2 page single spaced essay that addresses the following:
Why you wish to pursue an LL.M. at American University Washington College of Law.
How you think the LL.M. will help you achieve your short-term and long-term professional and personal goals.
What employment and other experiences you believe are particularly relevant to your application.
English Language Minimum Scores
To be considered for admission, the minimum required scores are as follows:
TOEFL 84 ibt or 563 paper based
IELTS 6.5
PTE Academic 56
Applicants may be admitted without reference to their baccalaureate record if they earned at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA in a master's degree program completed at a regionally accredited institution or if they earned at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA for the last 12 credit hours of a master's or doctoral degree program still in progress.

The LL.M. in International Business and Trade Law is designed for lawyers and law graduates interested in the international law of trade, investment, finance, and other business transactions. The LL.M. focuses on helping students acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed for future careers in legal practice, consulting, and policy-making. Taught in Washington D.C. by top-notch academics and practitioners, the LL.M. presents unique experiential learning and networking opportunities.<br><br>The LL.M.'s core courses cover the fundamentals of trade negotiations and regulation under domestic and international law, and of international sales, transfer of technology, and other cross-border transactions. Students may then choose from a wide array of specialized electives, including U.S. trade remedies and export controls, trade and investment, bilateral and regional trade agreements, e-commerce, trade in services and intellectual property, currency and financial transactions. Students may also explore the linkages between trade, business and other areas of law, such as environment, human rights, labor, and gender.
