Holistic Review
MTM: We use a holistic review process to assess a candidates' preparation and readiness for the MTM program. Analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to work in diverse and inclusive teams are cornerstones of our courses and vital to technology careers. In the personal statement, we ask applicants to describe why the MTM program is a fit for their interests and goals. We also ask that applicants describe their quantitative preparation, such as from academic, self-study, or employment experiences. In addition, applicants are encouraged to describe a time when they were out of their comfort zone when facing a new situation, team, or task. How did they cope with or otherwise address the challenge? Looking back on that experience, what insights did they gain about themselves or others?
PhD: In addition to the GRE, we ask applicants to describe their specific research interests in their personal statement, as well as the activities and experiences they believe have prepared them to succeed in this specific Ph.D. program. In the personal statement, applicants may also describe a particular challenge they faced in their educational journey or personal life and how they dealt with it. What did they learn from that experience about their own resiliency? How did that lesson better prepare them to be successful in a demanding graduate program?

Technology Management's Master of Technology Management (MTM) is a full-time, residential program designed for motivated students seeking to achieve leadership roles in innovation-driven enterprises. MTM's student cohort comprises individuals with backgrounds in engineering, science, mathematics, the social sciences, and humanities, and on average, with one-to-five years of professional experience. This diversity enhances the student experience by deepening classroom discussion and allowing students to explore a range of problem-solving approaches. MTM curriculum draws upon research and education at the intersection of technology, business, and social science, and explores the theory and practice of product and corporate strategy, the management of products, projects, and teams, and the various methodologies for growing and scaling innovation-driven businesses. The MTM curriculum also includes a field practicum in which student teams have the opportunity to experience the practical application of theories and concepts learned to real-world company challenges. MTM students may also choose to participate in Technology Management's annual New Venture Competition, which provides the opportunity to take a deeper-dive into forming and building a viable startup business.
