Official English Language Proficiency Exam Scores (International Candidates)
GMAT or GRE Scores: The submission of a GMAT or GRE score is optional for Penn State students. The submission of a GMAT or GRE score is also optional for all other students with a cumulative GPA at the time of application of 3.50 or higher. Applicants with a cumulative GPA at the time of application of less than 3.50 who are not from Penn State must submit a GMAT or GRE score. Only the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree from an accredited institution can be considered for admission into Penn State. International applicants whose transcripts are not in English should submit both the originals as well as translated transcripts along with an official copy of the bachelor's degree and graduation certificate. Contact the Penn State Graduate School to determine if your degree is equivalent to a U.S. four-year baccalaureate degree before submitting an application. The Penn State Smeal MAcc program will accept the IELTS as a test of English proficiency. Minimum required score: 7.0. Minimum required scores:

To be licensed as a certified public accountant (CPA) in most states, including Pennsylvania, individuals must complete 150 credit hours of education. Penn State's Smeal College of Business offers two options to meet this educational requirement: the Integrated MAcc Program for Smeal accounting majors or the One-Year Master of Accounting for those who have already earned a bachelor's degree at Penn State or elsewhere.<br><br>Becoming a CPA opens doors to opportunities not only in accounting firms but also across the business landscape. A master's degree in accounting will prepare students to enter careers in public accounting, as well as corporate finance, financial analysis, and law enforcement. Combining graduate accounting coursework with a CPA certificate and any number of undergraduate degree specializations facilitates entry to careers in consulting and advisory services.<br><br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Achieve a Data-Driven Mindset the MAA program will help students develop a datadriven mindset, preparing them to interact with data scientists from an accountant's perspective. The program will provide exposure to topics on unstructured data, data extraction, data modeling, visualizations and relational databases.<br>Develop Business Intelligence the MAA program will enable students to develop the skills necessary to apply modern analytical methods yielding descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive accounting information used for business intelligence.<br>Interact with Current Technology the MAA program will help provide experience with audit, tax, and financial analytical cases and technologies such as Excel, SAS, and Python and visualization software such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.<br>Explore Contemporary Topics the MAA program will expose student to contemporary topics such as fintech, cryptocurrencies, web scraping, and the use of blockchain.
