The degree program consists of four areas of study (foundational courses, advanced core courses, elective courses, and the HRM capstone). Foundational courses focus on general business topics and organizational competencies. Depending upon the student's undergraduate studies and prior professional experience, foundational courses may include General Management and Leadership, Communication, Information Systems, Organizational Behavior, Management in a Global Society and the Legal Environment of HRM. Advanced coursework includes HRM and Labor Relations, as well as a Case Studies in HRM course that is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to apply what they have learned. Elective coursework includes studies that focus on developing competencies in the functional areas of HRM. These areas include, but are not limited to, HR Strategy and Policy, Training and development, Benefits, Organizational Development, Workplace Safety and Heath, Workplace Security, and Cultural Diversity.
