To apply for a Ph.D. in Business Administration, you must have first completed a Master's degree. GRE (minimum 308) or GMAT (minimum 600) scores are required. International students must provide TOEFL scores if they do not hold a degree from U.S. Institutions. CEFR, Pearson test scores are also considered.

Official score report for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or GRE. Please note: Prospective students should take the GRE or GMAT at least two weeks prior to the application deadline. If you cannot take tests due to pandemics, please contact us. We accept test scores older than 5 years. The GMAT, in Rhode Island, is offered at Pearson Professional Centers in Warwick. The GRE, in Rhode Island, is offered at Prometric Test Center in Warwick. The code for URI BusinessCas is #4291.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in the undergraduate career that can be confirmed with official transcripts from the institution (some programs may require a higher or lower GPA).
If English is not your native language, you'll need to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores (taken within the last two years). A minimum score of 91 for TOEFL under the new IBT-Internet Based Test or 575 under the paper based testing, and minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS is required. The operations and supply chain management faculty conduct research in the fields of transportation, logistics, operations and supply chain management. The doctoral program is designed to produce outstanding scholars in these fields. The University of Rhode Island offers the only Ph.D. program in Business Administration in the state. The Ph.D. program specializations include marketing, finance, and supply chain management. In this mentor-based program, you will take formal coursework during the first two years and work closely with one or more professors on research projects in their area of specialization throughout the program During the first two years of the program, you must satisfy the required coursework and develop your research ideas into major papers. The coursework consists of 10 or more advanced courses beyond the master's degree (a minimum of 30 credits). In addition, two additional one-credit courses are required-one in research in business and the other in pedagogy.
