In addition to the requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, applicants to the Master of Education program must have:an undergraduate degreean interest in educational issuesat least one year of successful professional experience in teaching or traininga "Statement of Academic Objectives and Research Interests" (for research-based M.Ed.) or a personal statement discussing why you wish to do graduate studies in the area of educational studies and how it fits into your plan for entry into the workforce as a working professional and/or scholar (for course-based M.Ed.).a "Selection of Area of Concentration Form"proficiency in the English languageStatement of Academic Objectives and Research InterestsThe Statement of Academic Objectives and Research Interests describes your reasons for pursuing graduate study in the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. Your statement should include, but not be limited to, a description of:Your research interestsHow your previous studies and experience have prepared you for the programYour career and scholarly objectivesHow you perceive the graduate degree will advance these objectivesUndergraduate DegreeGraduates of recognized universities may be admitted to programs leading to the Master's degree. A student with a four-year degree or equivalent in the discipline to which s/he is seeking admission, and who has an academic standing equivalent to 70% or better in the final two years of study (full time equivalent) may be admitted to a Master's program (M2).International Students interested in enrolling in the M.Ed. must demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in English, as the working language of instruction in the Faculty of Education. This concentration will enable you to examine philosophical orientations, theoretical frameworks, and research methodologies relevant to the study of educational administration and leadership, policy and leadership in a Canadian and international context. The program objectives will be accomplished through the completion of one of the three streams (course based, major paper, thesis). This graduate program will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge to enhance your professional practice.English programming is available if you need extra training prior to entry into the academic program or have received lower than the required test score.Enrolment is limited. Preference will be given to candidates who exceed the above minimum requirements and those who have at least one year of successful professional experience in education.The M.Ed. program provides students with an opportunity to pursue advanced studies in education and to build a foundation of important critical scholarly skills appropriate for the work of developing scholars and researchers in the field of education.
