Candidates for the Degree must have
- qualified for the award of a bachelors degree with at least a B- grade average across the 300 level papers, or for the award of a bachelors degree with honours with at least second class honours (second division), or for a programme of study considered by the Academic Board to be equivalent, and
- qualified for the award of the Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation - Pre-Masters of the University of Waikato, and
- satisfied the prerequisites for graduate study at levels considered appropriate by the Academic Board.
In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, candidates who do not meet the requirements of these regulations may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying papers the Academic Board may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently.
English Language Requirements
- an Academic IELTS Overall score of at least 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any band), or
- a TOEFL iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) score of 90 with a Writing score of 21, or
- a TOEFL iBT Home Edition overall score of 90 with a Writing score of 21, or
- a B grade or better at Level 8 in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English, or
- a PTE Academic overall score of 56 with no band less than 46, or
- a Language Cert International ESOL (LRWS) C1 Expert with an overall high pass and no less than a pass in each skill, or
- a Language Cert International ESOL (LRWS) B2 Communicator with 38-50 score per skill, or
- a Michigan English Test (formally known as Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)) minimum score of 59.

You can also choose to study part-time for a further 9 months and take your CA Professional Exams. Start your journey towards becoming a Chartered Accountant today. Waikato's Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcct) is tailor-made for university graduates who have never studied accounting before, but already have a bachelor's degree in another area.<br>This internationally recognised qualification will set you up for a professional career in accounting and as a future business leader. It is globally accredited by professional bodies and respected by top employers.<br>Depending on your career goals, students can choose either the 180-point MPAcct programme (12 months) or the 240-point MPAcct with a Chartered Accountancy (CA) endorsement (21-23 months). See below for more details.<br>The course has two intakes each year, so you can start in either January or November.<br>During your studies, you will develop advanced knowledge and skills in all the core areas of accounting, business, law, economics and finance, and be able to apply them to practical accounting situations.<br>Please note this is an accelerated course with an intensive workload.
