We will provide you with the foundations of Human Resource Management (HRM), focusing on areas including the nature of employment relationships, regulations and current challenges and issues in HRM. These foundations will be further developed on specialist modules as you progress on the course. You will also investigate management in a changing society to broaden your understanding of managing people in the context of social change.
Optional modules at this early stage of your course provide you with the opportunity to focus your studies on topics including accounting, business law, economics, international business and the opportunity to learn more about managing in organisations by working with other students to find a solution to a business problem set by a multinational corporation.
As you progress on this course you will study the theory and practice of recruiting employees and the various internal and external factors that can affect this. You will examine employment relations looking at the roles of employers, trade unions and the state, to develop your understanding of these complex relationships. You will begin to look at the fundamental concepts of human behaviour within organisations as well as motivation, politics, leadership, and gender.
We currently offer a module that helps to enhance your professional HRM knowledge and skills.
