Simulated projects address real issues and present a wide range of property scenarios. This approach is further supported by visits to towns and cities to give you a feel for how the industry operates in different locations and bring you into contact with a range of practitioners.The course provides a solid grounding in property law, construction, valuation and sustainability issues. You will develop key communication and negotiation skills in order to satisfy the requirements of such a people-oriented job. In order to help contextualise your studies, you will also be encouraged to secure an industrial placement.What happens on the course<br>This course is aligned with the RICS requirements. This course will equip you with the skills required to manage residential and commercial properties. Property managers manage and maintain all communal aspects of residential property, they account for shared charges and resolve disputes at all levels. Managing a property involves complying with legal obligations, for example, landlord and tenant, planning, health and safety and fire regulations. During the course you will expand upon the area of residential and commercial leases using appropriate legislation, case law and comparable evidence; analyse and evaluate relevant information; negotiate covenants on behalf of landlord or tenant during in-class workshops and enhance communication skills by negotiating rent reviews and lease renewals on behalf of either landlord or tenant. Another interesting part of this course is learning the different tools and techniques of investment appraisal and property valuations. This aims to develop your ability to identify the investment aims of different categories of investors and to analyse the investment instruments which meet those needs. Through the introduction of non-discounting and discounting methods of investment appraisal you will develop an understanding of the elementary theory of property investment and development appraisal and to making use of computer spreadsheets as a means of presenting, analysing and solving investment problems.This will also develop your understanding of the strategic imperative of real estate as corporate asset and to examine its contribution and value to overall corporate strategy. It also aims to analyse strategy choices in ownership and use of real estate resources of corporate entities.Not just these, you will be learning the mandatory competencies such as communication, negotiation, conflict avoidance, dispute resolution, ethics and professional practice and team working etc.
