Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor of Music with at least upper second class honours or equivalent. An applicant who does not have a Bachelor of Music with at least upper second class honours or whose major field of study has not been music may be required to pass a qualifying examination or undertake preliminary study. Applicants for the Master of Music will be required to pass an admission audition and interview (performance) or portfolio review (composition and musicology) for the Conservatorium before lodging an application with the Graduate Research School.
IELTS (Academic) including IELTS for UKVI (Academic)- Minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 (must include Academic Reading and Writing modules)
TOEFL - Essay Rating / Test of Written English (TWE) of 4.5 and either 230 (Computer-based) or 570 (Paper-based) score. Internet-based Test (iBT): An overall score of 82 with a minimum score of: 22 in the Writing section, 18 in the Reading section, 20 in the Speaking section, and 20 in the Listening section for all courses

This specialist degree is designed for professionals or graduates to pursue composition or performance at postgraduate level, as well as investigate the theoretical/historical aspects of performance and composition.<br><br>Master of Music (in composition)<br>Students are required to present for examination a portfolio consisting of a composition or group of compositions which show(s) advanced technical accomplishment and imaginative resource, and a thesis on a topic related to one or more aspects of the portfolio.<br><br>Master of Music (in musicology)<br>Students are required to present for examination a thesis or a transcription and edition of a substantial body of music to be accompanied by a critical commentary.<br><br>Master of Music (in performance)<br>Students are required to present for examination a recital program which demonstrates advanced artistic integrity and technical accomplishment, and a thesis on a topic related to one or more aspects of the recital.<br><br>Master of Music (Orchestral Performance)<br>At the end of the course, students are required to present for examination:<br><br> recordings of their performance projects, where such recordings are available,<br> a report of their performance program by the Orchestral Mentor assigned by WASO, and<br> a thesis (of 8,000 to 10,000 words) on a topic related to one or more aspects of their performance program.
