All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
AQF Cert IV,
Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent),
International Baccalaureate Diploma - Minimum of 24 points consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level & 3 subsidiary level.
IELTS Academic - Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0).
TOEFL iBT - Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17
TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) - Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better.

Students receive individual lessons, specialised masterclasses and workshops, and classes in music history, aural skills, harmony, pedagogy, career skills and performance psychology. Students also take to the stage as soloists, and perform in ensembles ranging from symphony orchestra, wind orchestra, fully-staged opera and music theatre productions through to chamber music, early music, art song, cutting-edge new music, world music, and music for dance and drama. There are also specialist ensembles for strings, wind, brass, percussion, voice, piano, saxophone and guitar. The classical course brings together outstanding students with inspirational staff, providing students with an extraordinary range of performance opportunities, plus all the training they need to create careers as professional musicians.<br><br>Apply trans literacy skills to successfully communicate knowledge and ideas in solo and group performance settings through adept use of technical, interpretative, and evaluative ability for a range of styles in area (s) of specialisation. Demonstrate creativity, initiative and judgement in planning, problem-solving, and decision making to compose original music for instrumental or vocal combinations. Adapt knowledge and skills in diverse contexts applying technical and interpretative proficiency to perform and evaluate full-length public recitals, informed by historical practice. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for professional development in classical performance instrumental through creative, critical and reflective thinking and practice, in both individual and group settings. Demonstrate a broad and coherent body of knowledge with depth in the underlying principles, concepts and theories of classical performance. Demonstrate knowledge with depth of the definitive classical performance styles, genres and techniques and its relationship to history culture and music. Demonstrate cross cultural, social and ethical awareness, including indigenous cultural competence and apply a local and international perspective to practice. Review, analyse, and synthesise knowledge in classical performance to prepare for and perform recitals. Exercise critical thinking and judgement to identify and sustainably solve problems during the composition and arrangement of classical music.
