In this course you'll gain expertise in a variety of communications areas including journalism, digital media, screen production, public relations, marketing and graphic design. Youll study subjects in media, design and business, gaining foundational knowledge in media and corporate communications and the scope to specialise in two fields of your choice. Youll also develop critical thinking and practical skills, using commercial-level equipment to produce content for print, radio, film, television and online media.<br><br>In your first year youll be introduced to the different spokes of communications and study optional units that reflect or refine your learning in specific communication areas. In your second and third years, youll choose two specialisations to study: one media specialisation and one design or business specialisation, or two media specialisations. This course will make you industry ready,You'll develop skills and knowledge in traditional and emerging media and communication roles.You'll use industry-level equipment to produce content and graduate with industry-ready skills.You'll build a portfolio of work and have opportunities to meet industry professionals.<br><br>Specialisations prepare students to develop broad knowledge about an additional discipline area or same discipline area that complements their study in an award course. Some specialisations may assist students to progress into postgraduate studies, but have specific entry requirements.<br><br>This specialisation teaches concepts and skills for client-based screen production such as advertising and promotion, corporate communications, informational and educational media. Class activities and assignments are designed to closely model industry practice and as such there is a strong emphasis on collaboration and professionalism in all units. Students are encouraged to make the best use their resources and to create work of a high standard suitable for their portfolio. When taken in combination with the other elements of the Bachelor of Communications, this specialisation provides students with the ability to use the technologies of screen production to understand the planning and implementation of corporate production projects. This specialisation may usefully be combined with the Web Media, Journalism, Digital Experience or Graphic Communication specialisations.
