If you're looking to blend science and creativity, and build global career opportunities, our Professional Sound and Video Technology degree course can help you to discover your potential.During your studies, you'll be based at our MediaCityUK campus, the heart of media production in the North. With our neighbours including Doc10 production, BBC, ITV and the home of Coronation Street, our students maximise this enviable location, working on live projects and securing both paid placements and work experience on flagship programmes, such as Britain's Got Talent, The Voice and X Factor.<br><br>This exciting and varied course covers both practical elements of media technology alongside scientific audio-visual fundamentals. Your studies will focus on audio production, visual content and IP streaming. Using a practical approach, your studies will develop your theoretical knowledge and give you the confidence to work with industry standard equipment.In your first year, you'll gain an introduction to television and web, sound design and studio production. During year two, you'll progress on to study advanced audio production, audio and web systems, and creative media production to develop your professional portfolio. You'll also deliver a group design project, working on live industry projects. In your final year, alongside completing your dissertation, you'll select specialist modules that can give you practical knowledge of subjects including spatial audio, visual effects or television engineering.<br><br>Now is an exciting time to join the creative industries and there are excellent career prospects across a range of areas including live/studio broadcasting, acoustic consultancy, product development (R&D), audio engineering and AV, and post-production.<br><br>Professional Sound and Video Technology graduates have the skills to work as technical engineers, media technicians, media asset managers, live broadcast professionals, video editors, broadcast engineers, colourists, edit assistants, and MCR gallery operators.<br><br>Many of our course alumni have successfully secured roles working with companies including Abbey Road Studios, BSkyB, Virgin Media, Vodaphone, Erikson, BBC and Dolby.<br><br>Duration - 3-year course, Full time, 4-year course With placement
