If you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) courses, or you'd like extra preparation before starting degree-level study, we recommend you join the foundation year – which has been designed to encourage exploration and experimentation. Through experimentation with materials, processes, technologies, design and creative thinking, this course will develop your professional, practical and intellectual skills and prepare you for a successful career. You'll gain the confidence and experience required to utilise new technologies in the pursuit of innovative and creative solutions. All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You'll learn through critical enquiry and exploration of ideas, materials and design processes. You'll work with external partners and have the opportunity to apply for placements. The distinctive portfolio of work that you'll create will demonstrate your unique strengths to prospective employers. In the first ‘induction' module you'll learn to work confidently and creatively with a wide range of different materials. In the second ‘project' module you'll be taught by tutors from the BA (Hons) course supported by foundation tutors.<br><br>This course prepares you for future study and careers in jewellery and metalwork design and making, object and tableware design and making, retail, museums and galleries, entrepreneurship, prop making, knife design and making, cutlery design and making and architectural metalworking. Previous graduates of this course have gone on to work for Heatherwick Studio, Chris Perry Silversmith, Others Studio, Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, 5 plus 2 Jewellery Hong Kong, Catherine Best Jewellery Guernsey, Weston Beamor, Humairya: British Contemporary Fine Jewellery, Hayley Grafflin Jewellery and Lee Simmons.<br><br>5 Years with Foundation Year and Placement Year Option also Available
