The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic admission requirements band section below.

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
AQF Cert IV,
Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent),
Undergraduate Certificate,
Special Tertiary Admissions Test,*
University Preparation Course,*
Indigenous University Orientation Course,*
Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment, or*
Experience Based Entry Scheme.
International Baccalaureate Diploma - Minimum of 24 points (Minimum of 28 points for Law), consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level & 3 subsidiary level
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0),
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition - Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17.
TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) - Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better.

Brings together the key aspects of national and international security with an emphasis on contemporary security issues. By studying the core elements of terrorism, security and intelligence in the foundation year, students are able to undertake specialised study in how to counter the terrorist threat, apply intelligence gathering techniques, think critically, analyse and understand criminal motivation.<br>Students will learn to utilise suitable technology to secure assets, protect critical and national infrastructure and employ security management techniques to achieve desired security outcomes.<br><br>Course learning outcomes<br>Assimilate a broad discipline of knowledge from many sources to various criminogenic and protective situations to overcome insecurity in society.<br>Use structured thinking processes in criminological or protective contexts to analyse, conceptualise and solve complex societal problems.<br>Think creatively to identify the needs of diverse stakeholders to generate innovative solutions to professional problems.<br>Use digital technologies to access, evaluate and communicate complex criminological and security information from multiple and diverse sources.<br>Construct purposeful communication in a variety of formats to achieve discipline outcomes in a professional context.<br>Review reliable sources and resources to investigate how different cultural attitudes and values impact the fields of criminology, security and intelligence.<br>Work collaboratively to recognise the way in which beliefs and values of others influence the pursuit of societal wellbeing.<br>Demonstrate autonomy, accountability and judgement towards own learning and professional practice in supporting societal wellbeing.
