Our Certificate in Autism Studies furnishes you with the knowledge and skills to provide more person-centred, autism-friendly support.You gain knowledge of autism, including strengths and challenges, the impact of the environment and other people. As a result, you are able to provide better support to children and adults with autism and to create autism-friendly environments.The Tizard Centre is at the forefront of learning and research in autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and community care. We are committed to social justice issues and anti-discriminatory practices. We keep people with IDD and their families as our main focus, and work on the health, care and education systems surrounding them.We operate a successful blended learning programme. This means that the programme is delivered using a blend of campus-based workshops and web-based materials.You have modules on autism spectrum conditions and support work. We also cover the policy context surrounding intellectual and developmental disabilities.You attend campus for one workshop at the start of the academic year, as well as for an exam workshop toward the end of the year.
