All applicants are required to have a three year degree from a recognised university, and attend an interview. Applicants will be asked to provide a written application and attend an interview if they are short-listed. Preference will be given to applicants with at least two years full-time (or
equivalent) experience in a formal counselling role.
It is desirable that all applicants have a three-year degree from a recognised university, in an area such as social work, psychology, medicine, occupational therapy, nursing, theology or human services.

Academic admission requirements (Band 6) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Bachelor degree, or
Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0),
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition - Minimum score of 84, with no individual score less than 17.
TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) - Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5.0 or better.

Our Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy includes theoretical study, experiential-based skill development and self-reflective clinical practice in the fields of counselling and psychotherapy.<br>The overall theoretical orientation of this coursework Masters is psychoanalytic and to a lesser extent systemic.<br>To be accepted into this course, you’ll need a three-year degree from a recognised university, in an area such as social work, psychology, medicine, occupational therapy, nursing, theology or human services.<br>Preference will be given to applicants with at least two years full-time (or equivalent) experience in a formal counselling role.<br>In the final year of your study, you can hone your clinical skills in a year-long fieldwork placement. Alternatively, if you have relevant previous experience, you can apply to complete a research project.<br><br>Course learning outcomes<br>Reflect critically and holistically on a complex body of theoretical knowledge, research principles and skills-based practice to demonstrate mastery of counselling professional practice.<br>Apply specialist psychodynamic and systemic knowledge creatively to investigate, evaluate and synthesize complex counselling frameworks and theories in authentic situations.<br>Apply communication and collaboration skills to design innovative contributions to professional practice.<br>Use high level self-management skills to initiate, plan and participate in supervised counselling and psychotherapy in professional practice or execute a substantial project.
