A level - BBB including History or a related humanities based essay writing subject which includes English, Philosophy, Religious Studies or Classical Civilisation. Students applying without History will need to make a case in their personal statement.
International Baccalaureate - 34 points overall or 15 points at HL including History 5 at HL or 6 at SL.
Access to HE Diploma - The University will not necessarily make conditional offers to all Access candidates but will continue to assess them on an individual basis.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma) - The University will consider applicants holding BTEC National Diploma and Extended National Diploma Qualifications (QCF, NQF, OCR) on a case-by-case basis.
IELTS - 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in reading&writing, 5.5 in speaking&listening). TOEFL iBT - 90 overall (with a minimum of 22 in reading, 21 in writing, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking. CAE/CPE - 176 overall (with a minimum of 169 in reading&writing, 162 in speaking&listening).

Through Religious Studies, you learn the place, role and influence of religion and religions in human culture, with a specific focus on Europe. Religion is also a key factor in any study of the history of Europe, especially Europe in the Middle Ages, which is an area of particular expertise in the School of History at Kent.Religion is a vital element in human culture, and today religious issues are everywhere - from current affairs and international events, to the history of ideas, art and literature. Studying History you learn how to approach and critically analyse many types of source within their proper contexts and to assess their impact both in the past and today. Both these subjects follow a modular structure, allowing you to tailor your studies to your own interests.Taking History with Religious Studies, you gain an appreciation of world history through a focus on one of humanity's most powerful organising forces.<br><br>Graduates are able to demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently, demonstrating to potential employers that they respond positively to various challenges and that they can work to tight schedules and manage heavy workloads. You develop excellent skills of analysis, frequently assessing multiple and often conflicting sources before condensing opinions into concise, well-structured prose.<br><br>Many graduates find employment in fields such as journalism and the media, management and administration, local and national civil services, the museums and heritage sector, commerce and banking, teaching and research, and the law.
