A level - BBB including B in History, Classics-Ancient History or Classical Civilisation.
GCSE - Grade B (or grade 6) in a second language.
International Baccalaureate - 34 point overall or 15 at HL, including History HL at 5 or SL at 6, and a second language at 4 HL or 5 SL.
Access to HE Diploma - The University will not necessarily make conditional offers to all Access candidates but will continue to assess them on an individual basis.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma) - The University will consider applicants holding BTEC National Diploma and Extended National Diploma Qualifications (QCF, NQF, OCR) on a case-by-case basis.
IELTS - 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in reading&writing, 5.5 in speaking&listening). TOEFL iBT - 90 overall (with a minimum of 22 in reading, 21 in writing, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking. CAE/CPE - 176 overall (with a minimum of 169 in reading&writing, 162 in speaking&listening).

History and Italian enables you to learn the language and about the culture of Italy while undertaking a detailed study of the past.This course offers both flexibility and variety. You'll develop advanced linguistic skills in an internationally important language, and gain a deep understanding of contemporary Italian culture. Your history modules will also give you a global perspective on the past.Studying History and Italian enables you to gain a deep understanding of Italy's language, history and culture and offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with these traditions, as well as with the one of the most vibrant European nations, and to complement your language learning with a broad understanding of European history. You'll explore a broad range of topics and develop your analytical skills.<br><br>You are required to spend a year working or studying abroad between your second and final year of study. In previous years, students have studied at our partner institutions in a country appropriate to their programme of study. You'll develop your language skills, grow in self-confidence, gain a new academic perspective, and enhance your employability.<br><br>The ability to speak another European language is a key asset in the global employment market, and many employers view a graduate with overseas study experience as more employable.The School of History is also committed to providing programmes that allow our students to gain and hone the valuable skills required to meet the demands of the modern workplace.
