Explore the fascinating world of Classical Antiquity and delve into the distinctive and dynamic societies of Ancient Greece, the Roman Republic and Empire and Graeco-Roman Egypt. Together, these left an incredible legacy that still shapes our world, from democracy and philosophy to law and architecture. Above all, it's a history of incredible violence: war was as natural to the ancients as rainfall. So, it's not just a history of cultural interaction and intellectual achievements it's also a history of the social, psychological and political impact of war, conquest and conflict. It's a degree that offers plenty of flexibility. So, while youll study the broader scope of antiquity, youll also have the chance to drill down into specific aspects of the three different societies as well as looking into a huge range of other topics and areas. Graduates may be employed in a wide range of industries including museums, galleries, heritage sites/historic houses, heritage organisations and charities, record offices, archives, building conservation, horticulture and nature conservation, national and local government, libraries and universities. Some graduates may also be interested in teaching after studying Ancient History at degree level, and go on to study for a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
